Range Rover Evoque Convertible
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is unique in its kind. It is the first luxury compact SUV as a convertible and also the first convertible from Range Rover to go into production. We went out with the 180 hp 2.0 liter diesel.
Motorizations
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible can currently be ordered in 2 diesel variants of 150 hp or 180 hp. The basic version is the 2.0 liter TD4 diesel with automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. This model has a power of 150 hp and goes from 0-100 km/h in 12 seconds. The base price is 52,700 euros for the SE Dynamic. For the HSE Dynamic you have to pay 59,100 euros.
We were introduced to the Range Rover Evoque Convertible through a test drive with the 2.0 liter TD4 diesel. This also has an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The power is a good 180 hp and the sprint to 100 km/h takes about 10.3 seconds. The SE Dynamic is available from 55,600. Our test car was an HSE Dynamic and you have to count on a budget of 62,000 euros. For that budget you get a richly equipped car with, among other things, Xenon headlights, InControl Touch Pro navigation system, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats in Oxford leather with memory, 19″ rims and unique finishing elements such as Narvik Black bonnet louvres.
In addition to the two sturdy diesels, a potent petrol version is also available. It is a 2.0 liter Si4 petrol with automatic transmission, four-wheel drive and a power of 240 hp. You reach 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Prices fluctuate between 56,600 euros for an SE and 63,000 euros for an HSE Dynamic.
Roof
The roof of the Evoque Convertible goes down in just 18 seconds. It closes again in 21 seconds via a button on the center console. A lightweight fabric roof in black was chosen that can be opened and closed at speeds of up to 48 km/h.
A real Range Rover
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible was designed to be a true Range Rover. Special attention was paid to safety, the ability to drive on any terrain and a commitment to an exceptionally high-quality and luxurious finish. In terms of safety, the Evoque has, among other things, a Roll-Over Protection System that comes into effect in 90 milliseconds in the event that the car ends up on its roof during an accident. To be able to perform on any terrain, this car has numerous systems that we also find in other Range Rover models. The Evoque Convertible is equipped with Terrain Response, among other things. This is a system that adapts the car to all possible driving conditions. It optimizes the engine, transmission, differentials and suspension control systems, maximizing handling, comfort and traction regardless of surface and driving conditions. The driver can choose from different driving modes: general, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts and sand.
Conclusion
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is one of a kind. A convertible with the classic off-road qualities of a Range Rover bathed in an atmosphere of luxury and refined finishing. The 180 hp diesel feels punchy and quick and can handle any terrain. Whether it is a muddy forest road, the highway or the city.
