Land Rover Discovery
The new Land Rover Discovery is an oversized SUV that offers plenty of space for its occupants and is packed with technology. The car is also very versatile with its off-road capabilities. We were introduced to this sturdy SUV through a test drive with the 3.0 TDV6 with 258 hp.
Best family SUV in the world
One of the eye-catchers of the new Discovery is the fact that the car can accommodate seven adults with full seats. The new Discovery has 3 rows of seats with Intelligent Seat Fold. This allows you to configure the second and third rows of seats using switches in the luggage compartment or also via a touchscreen. Because the rows of seats slope towards the back, everyone has a good view forward. The staggered roofline provides extra headroom in the second and third rows of seats. The Disco offers plenty of space and not only for people. There is also over 2,400 liters of luggage space, including in spacious compartments under the floor. The new Discovery offers storage space in the most unexpected places.
Adventurous look
The Discovery has had an adventurous character since its birth in 1989 and this is also reflected in the latest generation of the Discovery. In particular, the staggered roofline and the asymmetrically placed number plate at the rear refer to the previous generations of the Discovery. In the interior, it is mainly the high-quality finish and attention to detail that stands out to us and of course also the gigantic interior space.
Towing capacities
The Discovery is also known for its towing capabilities. This SUV has a towing capacity of no less than 3,500 kg and also has a number of features that make towing a trailer even easier. You can optionally opt for an electrically deployable towbar. With the coupling assistant Tow Hitch Assist you can see the expected path from the tow bar to the trailer coupling on the touchscreen. Advanced Tow Assist allows the driver to maneuver the trailer to a specific location by determining the trajectory using the Terrain Response 2 dial on the center console.
Driver assistance systems
Numerous systems are available as standard and optional on the new Discovery that increase safety and/or make driving easier. For example, the Discovery has Autonomous Emergency Braking as standard. This system must ensure that collisions with other vehicles or accidents with pedestrians are avoided. The system will first issue warnings to the driver. If the driver does not respond in time, the system will brake the car as much as possible to reduce the collision speed. Another standard option is Lane Departure Waring. This system will warn the driver when the car unintentionally leaves its own lane via a signal and the slight vibration of the steering wheel. Cruise control with Speed Limiter is also part of the Discovery’s standard equipment.
Activity Key
Land Rover is the first to offer an optional Activity Key on the Discovery. This key is integrated into a robust and waterproof wristband. The advantage of this is that from now on you can practice active sports, such as sailing or water skiing, without any problems, without having to worry about losing the key. The Activity Key has also been tested under extreme conditions. The result is that this key is waterproof to a depth of 30 meters and can withstand temperatures as low as -40° to 85°C.
